Matthew 25 Tool Library
Borrow or Rent Tools
Get affordable access to tools for your home, garden, and maintenance projects through the Matthew 25 Tool Library.
Borrowing a tool from us is a great alternative to buying or renting from a big box store. You’ll find everything from drywall jacks to ladders, saws to rakes, pliers to tile saws.
Location
201 Third Ave. SW
Entrance on the back of the building
via the alley on 2nd St. SW
How It Works
The Tool Library is available for everyone! There is no membership fee. Small tools and hand tools can be borrowed for free, and larger more expensive tools have a low daily fee. Credit cards, cash, and checks are all accepted. Tool rentals can be as short as two days, and late fees will be enforced for tools that are not returned on time.
Our helpful volunteer staff is available to assist and answer questions. Safety training is available upon request.
You can browse our inventory online, in-person during Tool Library hours, or you can inquire about a specific tool by calling and leaving a voicemail at 319-200-2788.
You’re welcome to reserve tools online before coming to the Tool Library, but it’s not required. To do so, you’ll need to create an account before you can reserve a tool. After you have reserved your items, drop by the Tool Library during open hours to pick them up.
Tools For Sale
The Tool Library also has a selection of new and used tools available for purchase at affordable prices. Stop by during open hours to check out what’s currently available.
Donate to the Tool Library
We are happy to take new and used tools! Donated tools will be loaned out in the community or sold with the proceeds used to support the Tool Library. All power tools need to be in working order, and all battery-powered tools need to come with their batteries and charger. It is much appreciated if any tools donated are first cleaned up. Donations may be dropped off during Tool Library hours. Call to make an appointment for larger donations.
