I need food

Groundswell Cafe – Get a free healthy meal at our pay-it-forward cafe. Click here for location and hours.

Cultivate Hope Corner Store – Pick up some free produce and shop for groceries at or below prices at other stores. We also have delicious Good Meals To Go for $5 or less. Click here for location and hours.

I need my home repaired

Matthew 25 is only able to assist homeowners. We are unable to work on rental properties.

Derecho Damage – Please start a request for derecho damage assistance through the PATCH Program with Waypoint by leaving a voicemail at 319-366-7999. The voicemail should include your name, a phone number where you can be reached, and a short description of your damage. Click here to learn more about the PATCH Program.

General home repairs and maintenance – If you live in the Taylor or Time Check neighborhoods, you may be eligible for assistance during Transform Week. Click here to learn more and apply.

 

I need tools

Tool Library – Borrow small tools and hand tools for free from our Tool Library. Larger tools and power tools have a low daily fee. You can also purchase inexpensive used and new tools. Click here for location and hours.

I need a place to live

Rental Homes – Matthew 25 owns a number of rental homes on the west side of Cedar Rapids. Click here to learn more and apply for housing.

I want to make my home more energy efficient

Get a free home energy audit through Green Iowa AmeriCorps. The energy audit includes air-leakage testing, gas and carbon monoxide safety checks, and installation of energy efficient products (including LED light bulbs). All Green Iowa services are provided to everyone at no cost. To be placed on the waiting list for the next round of energy audits, please call 319-200-2786 or email [email protected].

I want to learn how to grow or prepare food

We have a variety of food educational workshops at Groundswell Cafe, the Cultivate Hope Corner Store, and our Urban Farm. Check our Events listing for the next upcoming classes.

I want to enroll my children in educational opportunities

Youth Development Program – High school students are encouraged to apply for our summer-long educational opportunity at the Urban Farm, which develops job skills, offers education on food systems, social justice, interpersonal skills, nutrition and food education, and more.
