Resources for Community Builders

Since its founding in 2007, Matthew 25 has become a leader in the work of strengthening neighborhoods. We do that through our four pillars: food, housing, education, and community building.

Living through and helping rebuild neighborhoods after two major natural disasters has taught us the power of collaboration and the resilience provided by networks of relationships. We know without a doubt that people are stronger, healthier, and happier when they are connected.

Below is an evolving set of resources meant to share some of what we have learned about strengthening community and neighborhoods over the years.

Mission, Vision, and Guiding Principles of Matthew 25
These help guide us in our work. We revisit them regularly and use them to help us make decisions related to program development, hiring, and how we use the resources entrusted to us.

Matthew 25’s Five Big Questions
In our listening conversations, these are the types of questions we ask, designed to learn what gifts, skills, history, resources, and connections a person has to contribute to the community.

Matthew 25’s Five Levels of Connection
A framework for understanding how relationships are typically formed. We use this to think about what impact we can have at each level of relationship building.
