Tool Library Connects with the Community at Cedar Rapids Library Maker Fest

Sharing how our Tool Library helps bring projects to life by making tools affordable and accessible to all.

Tool Library at CR Public Library Maker Fest

On March 19, the Matthew 25 Tool Library took part in the Cedar Rapids Public Library Maker Fest—and what an incredible day it was! The event brought together local makers, creatives, and community organizations to celebrate innovation, hands-on learning, and the joy of building things together.

We loved meeting so many folks who stopped by our table to learn about the Tool Library. Whether people were DIY pros or brand-new to home repair, everyone was excited to hear about the affordable access to hundreds of tools available through our community lending library. From power drills to garden equipment to specialty tools for home improvement projects—our Tool Library is here to help anyone tackle a project without the high cost of buying new.

One of the highlights of the day? Meeting our all-time top tool renter! That’s right—we got to chat with the person who’s checked out more tools from the Tool Library than anyone else. It was a great reminder of the impact our service has for neighbors who want to build, repair, and improve their homes. Check out this short video where he shares what the Tool Library means to him and how it’s helped bring his and his son’s projects to life:

Thanks to everyone who stopped by to say hello, and a big shoutout to the Cedar Rapids Public Library for hosting such a fantastic event.

If you haven’t yet checked out the Tool Library, now’s a great time. Learn more and at matthew-25.org/tool-library.
