Cooking for a Cause teaches skills, helps the community

A class to learn and try a new recipe while also making extra food for the nonprofit Cultivate Hope Corner Store.

In September 2022, Groundswell Cafe launched Cooking for a Cause, a monthly cooking class where participants learn a new recipe while making extra meals for Cultivate Hope Corner Store’s Good Meals To Go program.

Through Good Meals To Go, the Cultivate Hope Corner Store is able to offer a quick and affordable meal alternative to fast food. For $5 or less, shoppers can pick up a full, healthy meal to take home.

Each Cooking for a Cause class is centered around a theme, from sushi rolling to healthy southern cooking. Participants learn hands-on from Groundswell’s experienced chefs, and get a meal of their own during the class. Everyone also gets to take home recipe cards for the food they made during the class.

Classes are suitable for beginners, but experienced cooks can also learn something new! Check out our Event Calendar for the next Cooking for a Cause class.
