Celebrate 7 Years of Groundswell Cafe!
We opened October 8, 2018. Help us celebrate our birthday week.
For the past seven years, Groundswell Cafe has been serving delicious food in a cafe unlike any other in Cedar Rapids. Every time a meal is rung up, guests have the opportunity to “pay it forward” by giving a little extra to support those in our community who are hungry. Thanks to these small acts of generosity, Groundswell Cafe has been able to provide nearly $300,000 in free and reduced-cost meals. Just as important, the Cafe has been a safe, welcoming space where everyone—from all walks of life—can come together around the table.

Brand New Fall/Winter Menu
Opened in 2018, Groundswell Cafe is still the only pay-it-forward eatery in the area. The menu features soups, salads, sandwiches, omelets and other breakfast items, coffee and teas, plus daily bakery specials. Instead of tips, donations go directly to the Pay-it-Forward Fund, which makes meals possible for anyone who cannot pay.
Groundswell Cafe is located at 201 3rd Ave. SW, next to the Matthew 25 office. Open Monday–Saturday, 7 a.m.–2 p.m.
