Additional performances in this series are planned for late 2024 and into 2025. \nIn preparation for the September event\, the storytellers are gathering for several weeks in advance to learn how to craft their stories for a live audience.  One participant\, Eric Gutschmidt\, shared his thoughts: “I’ve been interviewed several times\, but telling my story on stage is a new thing for me\, so I was intrigued when I was invited to participate. I’m enjoying getting to know the other storytellers\, and I’m excited to see how this event comes together.” \nIowa’s renowned Blues artist Kevin “B.F.” Burt will also be performing at this inaugural event. \nDoors open at 7:00 pm\, and the show starts at 7:30 pm. Tickets are $10 for adults\, $5 for students\, and may be purchased in advance below. Tickets will also be available for purchase at the door. Please note that all ticket sales are final and non-refundable. DESCRIPTION:We will be celebrating the fall harvest on the Urban Farm with free hot dogs from the Cultivate Hope Corner Store\, kids activities and a hay bale maze\, s’mores bar\, live music\, food and beverages from Groundswell Cafe\, produce from the Urban Farm\, and homemade products from our Youth Development Program students\, such as zucchini bread\, pumpkin bread\, chocolate beet bread\, and pickled vegetables. \nThe Urban Farm is located at 437 G Ave. NW in Cedar Rapids. Parking is available on F Ave. and G Ave. We hope to see you there!

No need to prepare for or have any special knowledge\, we welcome you to join us and share your own thoughts and feelings. \nMatthew 25 and a team of dedicated volunteers host monthly Community Conversations at the Groundswell Event Space\, 201 Third Ave. SW. The theme changes monthly\, but each time\, the conversations are rich and eye-opening for participants. The evening is structured\, so everybody gets a chance to talk. Most of the time is spent in smaller groups\, where it’s easy to share and get to know each other. And if you’re not a talker\, you are always welcome to just listen. \nWhy do we do this? Because it’s really important—but also rare these days—to spend face-to-face time with people you don’t know very well. Each time we host this event\, we learn something or see the world from a different perspective. \nA strong community doesn’t just happen. It’s built by people spending time together\, learning from one another and deepening relationships. That fabric becomes even stronger if it’s built among people from diverse groups. \nJoin this free event if you’d like to meet new people\, have meaningful\, respectful conversations\, and learn through listening.
